Episode 8 Cast:

Aziza Al Tawil

Aziza Al Tawil (GRANDMA) is an American actress, singer, dancer, film maker. Like Whoopi Goldberg she is an Alumnus of Hudson Guild Theater and her teacher was famed actor Morgan Freeman, then of the "Children's Television Workshop." After getting her membership to "Public Cinema" at age 11 her love for acting took off even further as she devoured classic film showings at NYC Revival Houses. She is from a multi-racial, multi ethnic family, and in 2009 was honored by the Museum of Lit and Art in Yerevan, Armenia as a notable "Armenian in World Dance." She has appeared with Alan Alda and Carol Kane at DISNEYWORLD MGM PARK," and acted in GRAVE CALLER (2018) and LOCK DOWN LOVE (2021) for Nigerian director Emeka Mbadiwe. Aziza is a strong supporter of human and animal rights, Holocaust remembrance, workers rights, and other social causes. Aziza will be making her network television debut very soon.

Jess Nicole Thigpen

Jess Nicole Thigpen (BOBBIE JO & VACCINE 1) has been based in the Chicago area for over 15 years where she has acted in numerous projects for film and theatre. Jess completed a tour of Twelfth Night with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks and played the role of Oberon in Blue Barn Omaha’s immersive production of Midsummer’s Night Dream. She is a graduate with Distinction from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and completed her residency at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. Jess has performed abroad in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. She frequently works on-camera in commercial and industrial work and is a part time professor of Theatre at Loyola University in Chicago.

Karen Vuranch

Karen Vuranch (FOXY & WOMAN 1) weaves together a love of history, a passion for stories and a sense of community. Karen teaches at Concord University, where she is the Director of the Theatre Department. In addition, she has been a professional actor for over 30 years and has toured nationally and internationally with COAL CAMP MEMORIES, storytelling drama written from oral histories she collected about a woman’s life in the coalfields. She has also produced a DVD of this project. Karen also recreates historical figures including author Pearl Buck; labor organizer Mother Jones; humanitarian Clara Barton, Indian captive Mary Draper Ingles, Grace O’Malley, 16th century Irish pirate, and Wild West outlaw Belle Starr, television food star Julia Child, and American literary giant Edith Wharton, adventurer Gertrude Bell. Her newest character is the indomitable Cass Elliot. POTLUCK, an innovative show about the importance of food in a community, is performed with singer/songwriter Julie Adams and poet Colleen Anderson—with CD. There’s also a second CD by Karen (an audio story) called GRANDMOTHER’S NECKLACE. She has received many honors for her work including the Tamarack Lifetime Achievement Award for the Arts from the West Virginia state arts center and the Robert C. Byrd Community Service Award from the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

Angelique Chapman

Angelique Chapman (WANDA) is a Guyanese American actress living and working in LA. Since relocating from New York she has hit the ground running. She has a B. A in Theatre and has studied at The Imagined Life Studio, Penny Templeton Studio, HB Studios, and Larry Singer Studios but more importantly she lives life. She believes that every day is an opportunity to discover more about herself and everyday she discovers more that she can put into the characters she plays. You can see her currently in two national commercial for Turo and Pendulum Probiotics. She also is starring in a feature film MILE 19 and a short SOMEBODY set to be release in 2022.

Janine K. Cogelia

Janine K. Cogelia (GERALDINE) has a BA in Theatre and began her career as an intern with Actor's Express in Atlanta, GA. She worked at the prestigious Alliance Theatre, George Street Playhouse, Coconut Grove Playhouse and in Off-Broadway shows in New York, before delving into film, commercials and television. She loves the challenge of immersion into multi-dimensional, complex characters and diving into every nuance and what makes them tick. Working on the VACCINE VIGNETTES in this time of Covid, was both educational and an incredibly cool technical challenge... and also more fun than you could possibly imagine. Aramis Martinez

Aramis Martinez (OLIVER) is an actor, writer and director. A New York native, he trained at HB Studios, Wynn Handman's Studio, and The Atlantic Theater Company. He has performed in numerous Off- and Off-Off-Broadway productions. In television credits, he has appeared in ON THE CASE with Paula Zahn, DATES FROM HELL, DEADLY DEVOTION, FRENEMIES, UNUSUAL SUSPECTS, and GIRL CODE. He has worked on various New York Film Academy thesis films, including THE WOLF AMONG US and THE MOMENT. He continues to seek out a wide variety of projects to improve his acting skills.

Sean Phillips

Sean Phillips (NARRATOR & LAB TECHNICIAN) is a graduate of The American Musical & Dramatic Academy. Theatre: MOTHER COURAGE with Meryl Streep, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD ( Cornish Playhouse),IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (Godlight Theatre Company), THREE ON A MATCH ( IATI Theatre), BRECHT ON BRECHT (TBTB). Michael Varde

Michael Varde (DEXTER) is known for his live action work in films, starring alongside Eileen Davidson, Michael Pare’, Kennedy Tucker and Trevor Stines in the 2020 feature MIDDLETON CHRISTMAS. Michael also starred in THE GIRL WITH THE PURPLE HAIR for Hooked TV with KayKay Blaisdell and Thomas Hobson. Nominated at the 2020 Southeast Regional Film Festival for his performance as Clark in the short film ODD BIRD. Michael was trained by Burt Reynolds and co-starred with him in the indie films HOLLOW CREEK. Michael studied in the master classes of Wynn Handman and Bob Krakower in NYC. Later this year, Michael will be appearing in the Tubi TV original film ROMEO AND JULIET KILLERS , the indie short film PORCELAIN and as a recurring guest star in a network daytime drama.

Martin Davis

(H.T.) Is an actor and voiceover artist from Plainfield, Illinois, but is originally from NJ. Martin has been performing for about 3 years with credits in over 50 independent short and feature films, local /regional commercials, television shows like CHICAGO MED and films streaming on Amazon Prime. Prior to acting, Martin was a Subject Matter Expert and Consultant in the Physical Security Industry and is a published author. He wrote the book "Are We There Yet? / The Ultimate Challenge", available on Amazon.

Senyah Haynes

(NARRATOR/WOMAN IN STORE/FEMALE OFFICER) is a Chicago-based actress, writer, and visual artist. Her first professional roles were with Chicago’s Loop Players, and then she started touring the country with The National Theatre for Children, based in Minneapolis. She’s the playwright of KARMA, produced in Chicago in 2012, and the author of JAYLA’S JAUNTS, a children’s adventure book series (available at www.palindromeglobal.com). Her visual art has been displayed in several institutions and some of it currently resides in the homes of collectors and on book covers (From a Black Perspective, Volumes 1-3). In addition to the arts, Senyah has also been a Youth Development Practitioner for more than two decades and she has served the community in a variety of ways, ranging from keeping peace circles to facilitating DEI workshops.

Justin Mobley

(MALE OFFICER/OLD MAN/ANGRY MAN ) was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. He started off in the entertainment business as a singer songwriter, producer, performer. Some of his songs, written and performed with Disney, are on their shows such as: SHAKE IT UP, LEMONADE MOUTH, and LET IT SHINE, a Disney direct to video film. Eventually he caught the acting bug and started taking classes at Acting Studio Chicago. So far Justin has been a Co-star on CHICAGO MED, a Stunt Performer on CHICAGO PD, and also became a SAG-AFTRA member this past March. Currently, he’s working on multiple projects, and will be starring in an upcoming Netflix movie soon.

Portia West

(GRANDMA) has a Master of Arts degree from Columbia College in Arts, Entertainment & Media Management as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Northeastern Illinois University. She possesses a diverse background in TV, Film, Theater, and as Voice Over Artist. An avid lover of music, Portia also has experience performing with various choirs and dance ensembles. She is an award winning professional development speaker who actively supports the arts community by volunteering with non-profit organizations that provide opportunities for youth to excel in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) careers.

Mia Katz

(NEWSCASTER) hails from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. She graduated from Bradley University in May of ‘21 with a degree in Theatre Performance. Mia is an actor, voice actor, and seamstress, and just wrapped playing a lead role in TAGGED, a feature film produced in Chicago.

Jonathan Lee-Rey

(LONNIE) is an actor, writer, and filmmaker from Yonkers, NY with a splash of the Bronx. Currently, he is based in Chicago where he is a member of Stir Friday Night, Stepping Stone Theater, a producer of the Chicago iteration of Kaleidoscope, and formerly on the iO Harold team Velvet and iO Network team Free Trial Run, and the indie film studio Make it Up Media. He has trained at UCB, iO, Second City, The Magnet and is a graduate of The Harold Ramis Film School and Skidmore College.

Mari Marroquin

(MA) is a Chicago based actor and full time voice talent for Interactions Corporation. She currently lives in the suburbs of Chicago and is a mom to an amazing 8 year old little girl. Excited to be using my voice to spread awareness during these scary times.

Vernon Mina

(MARCUS) is a Honduran born, Chicago raised actor/comedian/improviser based in Chicago. He is an NBC Bob Curry Fellow and is an alumni of the Second City National Touring Company. He is represented by Grossman & Jack Talent in Chicago and by Griffin Talent in LA.

Amber Washington

(HOPE) (She/Her) was born and raised in southwest Louisiana. She has been Chicago-based since 2016 where she immersed herself in the city’s vibrant storefront theater and independent film scenes. She has recently been involved with productions at Avalanche Theater, Factory Theater, and The Second City. She most recently starred in the indie film CECILY AND LYDIA AT THE WAYPOINT, which is currently making rounds on the film festival circuit, and is in post-production for her self-made webseries KAYLA OF GALILEE.

(ESTELLE) graduated with a Theatre Arts Degree from Point Park University. She has done numerous Theatre Productions in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh Irish, and Classical Theatre, Little Lake Theatre and other Theatre Venues, and in Canada for the St. Lawrence Summer Playhouse and Domino Theatre. She has done numerous Industrial films, Commercials and Voice Over projects, including: Ford Motor Company, Internal Revenue Service, Pennsylvania Lottery, Rochester General Hospital, FedEx, MJ Hotels, American Express, Macy’s, JoAnne Stores, Fantastic Sam’s, Hoover Sweepers, Penn State, University of Pittsburgh, PNC Bank, Crest ProHealth Oral B, Xarelto and has been involved in Several film projects shooting in Pittsburgh, Maryland and Washington D.C., the latest of which was in RUST, currently filming in her home town.

Ben Long (NEWSCASTER & REPAIRMAN) is a native of Buckhannon, WV, and has been acting since he was in elementary school. Past rolls have included Oliver in OLIVER, Papa Gay in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and most recently Hamlet in HAMLET. He is currently a Freshman at West Virginia Wesleyan College where he is majoring in Theatre with an Acting and Directing concentration.

Barbara Figgins (Female Voice/Reporter/Jill) is so excited to be part of the Vaccine Vignettes! She is an ensemble member with the Irish Theatre of Chicago, Lakeside Shakespeare and also works as a film and voice over actor. Asha John

Asha John (Tia) was born on the islands of Trinidad & Tobago. As a child she attended numerous schools for the gifted and talented and excelled in both academics and performing arts. She attended Penn State University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science and her minors in Mathematics and Spanish. In 2011 she began working as a teaching artist bringing her love of step, theater, dance, and math to the students of New York City. Combining her passion for theater, arts, and education, Asha also graduated from NYU where she received her Master of Arts in Educational Theater for Colleges and Communities. Having her education, purpose, and passion intersect so perfectly is a source of inspiration and fulfillment. Asha is a well-rounded and versatile artist. Her varied roles have seen her cast in dynamic, thought provoking, dramatic leads as well as quick-witted, fast paced comedy improv. Since 2009 Asha has been determined and relentless in pursuit of her dream and has been cast in numerous productions for stage and film. Her current credits encompass original off-Broadway works as well as classics like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In the near future Asha hopes to be cast in a major motion picture as well as a Tony award winning production on Broadway.

D. Jerome Wells

D. Jerome Wells (Ed) is a native of Winston-Salem, NC and has built his portfolio performing frequently within the triad and in multiple theatres on the east coast. He began his training at the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied musical theatre and traditional modern dance formats. After graduating from George W. Carver High School, Wells matriculated at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating with a B.F.A. in Dance Choreography and Performance (2014). Wells has worked with renowned choreographers such as Duane Cyrus, Jeffrey Page, Karen McDonald, Debbie Allen, Mabel Robinson, and George Faison just to name a few. He was the recipient of the RTCC (Richmond Theatre Critic Circles’) Best Supporting Actor award for his role as “James Thunder Early” in 2016. Wells was last seen in Virginia Repertory Theatres’ 2019 production of THE WIZ, as the Tinman. D. Jerome is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.

Tristien Marcellous Winfree

Tristien Marcellous Winfree (Miguel/Stranger) is an actor, writer, director, teaching artist, and model. Mr Winfree has had the privileged to perform and collaborate with theatre companies such as The Alley Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, Pride Film & Plays, Goodman Theatre, Congo Square Theatre, Oak Park Festival Theatre , Chicago Dramatist, LatinX Theatre Commons, and other theatre companies around Chicago. He's an award winning film festival recipient for his short film PAIN IS THE AGENT OF CHANGE with recognition from Chicago Filmmakers, Chicago Indie Films, Stony Island Arts Bank-Rebuild Foundation, and others. His commercial credits include Hewlett & Packard, Illinois Tourism, Windstream Kinectic Energy, and The Tie Bar. Mr Winfree is a huge advocate of mental health awareness and he's proudly represented by BMG Talent Chicago.

Ben Bautista

Ben Bautista (NED), made his acting debut in the webseries KHALI’S HOMESCHOOL HIJINX and caught the acting bug. He continues to perform in high school plays and musicals. He’s grateful to his parents and brothers for their love and support.

Mélisa Breiner-Steiner

Mélisa Breiner-Steiner (NANCY) Mélisa Breiner-Sanders is a producer, writer and actor living in Astoria, NY. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting at The Theatre School at DePaul University. Her feature film SEVEN LOVERS is available on Amazon and iTunes and won the Rhode Island International Film Festival Directors Award. Mélisa has collaborated on numerous short films and several narrative webseries, including: The award winning CaucAsian (Producer, Actor). Token (UPM); “It's A Draw With Natalie Kim” (Producer) and producing and developing the web series and complementary documentary “My Secret Friend for Think” (iT) Film Assembly. Mélisa's breadth of industry knowledge has served her in the capacities of Unit Production Manager and Coordinator.

Braden Burgét

Braden Burgét (BAXTER) found his passion for acting after performing on stage at church at a young age. He balanced performance and athletics such as hockey all the way through high school. Making people laugh and creating relatability between characters and the audience has always been a high priority. He has since become an alumnus of the Second City Acting Lab, performing in numerous live theatre and sketch comedy productions.

Bev Coscarelli

Bev Coscarelli (MARGE) is a Chicago native who has appeared in over 25 stage productions And within the past year taken her talents to performing with 2nd Act Players of Evanston in one Act plays on Zoom. Bev has performed in dozens of industrial films, narrated a series of web Videos for the AMA, appeared in several indie films and has filmed many commercials. She is Incredibly happy to have an opportunity to work for Vera again as she has several times over the past two decades.

Cassandra Farley

Cassandra Farley (GREETER & JANELLE) is excited to be a part of the cast of “Phobias”. She lives in Romeoville, Illinois with her husband and three children. She currently works as the Director of Family Support for a non-profit organization that provides services to children and adults with disabilities. New to the industry, Cassandra has appeared as a guest narrator on ALL THINGS EGOT, provided her voice for two characters in a pilot for an animated children’s educational series, and has emceed promotional and fundraising events. In her spare time, Cassandra enjoys reading books of all kinds. She hopes to one day lend her voice to audio books. Cassandra continues to learn and grow in the voice acting industry and takes each opportunity given to her as a rewarding growth experience.

Henry Lombardo

Henry Lombardo (YOUNG BAXTER) is delighted to join the rest of the cast of PHOBIAS. Select theater performance credits include A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Goodman Theatre), AN INSPECTOR CALLS (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), LUISA MILLER (Lyric Opera of Chicago), Spirit Week Assembly: NO PDA and PLAYING HOOKY (The Second City), several short films, national commercials for CASEY’S PIZZA, CAMPING WORLD and EMPIRE TODAY and numerous virtual singing and acting performances throughout 2020. Henry is an accomplished singer and student of Merit School of Music Conservatory, Chicago, an agile tap dancer and plays piano, violin and drums.

Samantha Payne

Samantha Payne (DEANNE) was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She understands the level of grit and tenacity it takes to thrive within the city. Samantha's love for acting was first fostered in her elementary school theater program, as well as her local church. After graduating from UIC with a Bachelors in Business Marketing and Psychology, Samantha began working with large organizations. She recognized early on the importance of cultivating and fostering relationships within the city and beyond. Throughout the last two years, Samantha has slowly been finding her way back into the film industry. She couldn't be more grateful to have returned to something she once loved so dearly but often thought was out of reach.

Maurie Richie

Maurie Richie (JANITOR & DOCTOR) is originally from the south side of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign? Maurie worked in accounting for 18 years and was always told “You do not act like the typical accountant”… whatever that means. As a result of a number of events that happened in his life, Maurie learned that life is too short. During this time, he secretly dreamed of take acting classes and was inspired to do so after watching a video about the career of Marla Gibbs and reading about Kathryn Joosten. These are two actresses who made their start in acting in their 40s. He took acting, improv, sketch writing and stand up classes at The Second City Training Center. He has performed in acting, improv, and stand up shows throughout Chicago. Maurie was a co-anchor of the YouTube series ALL THINGS EGOT. He also directed a teen sketch in 2019 for the Chicago chapter of the Jack & Jill organization. Maurie wants to prove that no matter where you come from, what career path you start and your age - it is never too late to pursue your dreams.

Tiffany Yvonne Cox

Tiffany Yvonne Cox (LaDonna) is a 1st generation Trinidadian actress, producer, writer, and director. In fact, she is also the director of LADONNA’S EPIPHANY. She began her professional career interning at The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. This launched her into the Chicago Theatre scene where she worked with companies such as Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The House Theatre, and The Goodman. After her first TV role on CHICAGO FIRE she decided to move to L.A., where she has worked on shows such as GREY’S ANATOMY, DEAD TO ME, GOOD TROUBLE and several films, national commercials, and voice overs. When not on screen or stage, Tiffany volunteers with the non-profit organization CSH Speak Up! Where she supports those who have experienced homelessness in developing their story to share with legislation to gain more funding towards supportive housing. Once she realized bringing minority stories to the forefront was something she enjoyed creating through her art, Tiffany began producing her own creative work. This began with collaborating on the Digital Series COMMUNE. Followed by her directorial debut of a short film called ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE which has extended into a workshop on empathy and allyship. This all led her to opening Honest Babel Production Company with the mission to expose the world one story at a time. Anna Maria Horsford

Anna Maria Horsford (Jackie) has a face that will ring familiar, but the voice will make you immediately know at least three of the most memorable characters she has created: Thelma Frye (AMEN), Dee Baxter (THE WAYANS BROTHERS) and Mrs. Jones (FRIDAY). Anna Maria also starred in Tyler Perry’s A MADEA CHRISTMAS, STREET SMART, MINORITY REPORT, SET IT OFF, ST. ELMO’S FIRE, “THE NUTTY PROFESSOR II and PRESUMED INNOCENT. You can watch her leave an indelible mark in the daytime CBS soap THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL where she received two Emmy nominations for her portrayal as Vivian Avant. Yvans Jourdain

Yvans Jourdain (Cliff) is very grateful to be a part of the podcast of Vera Brooks’ “LaDonna’s Epiphany”, directed by the multi-talented Tiffany Cox and performed by a very talented cast of actors. Yvans Jourdain’s other projects consist of him directing the virtual performance arts presentation of SPEAK MY WORDS, TELL MY TRUTH written by Lorenz Qatava, in partnership with Brothers of The Desert and CVRep. Yvans last directorial project was the critically acclaimed performance of the fantabulous Jenelle Lynn Randall in I WANNA BE EVIL: THE EARTHA KITT STORY at the LA Fringe Festival. Yvans received his BA at Rutgers University and his MFA at Arizona State University, where he also studied directing under the wing of famed director Marshal Mason. As an actor, Yvans was last seen as Henry Williams in the Canadian Stage 2017 Production of HELLEN LAWRENCE at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Yvans is known for his recurring role on PARKS AND RECREATION as Councilman Howser. He has also appeared on CRIMINAL MINDS BEYOND BORDERS, GHOST WHISPERER, GREYS ANATOMY, MY NAME IS EARL, MONK, THE RICHES, WILL & GRACE, JUDGING AMY, ALIAS, THE SHIELD AND THE WEST WING. Theatre credits include and not limited to, FLAGS, BOX, UNCLE TOM’S CABIN, CYMBELINE, COMEDY OF ERRORS, MACBETH, TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD, A FEW GOOD MEN, and TWELVE ANGRY MEN. Brandon A. Wright

Brandon A. Wright (Thaddeus) is a Chicago-based actor/director and educator. Mr. Wright earned his MFA in Acting from Wayne State University. He has performed regionally on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Most notably, he performed the role of Harpo in the National Tour of THE COLOR PURPLE. Mr. Wright is a Professor of Theatre at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. He is gratefully represented by Paonessa Talent. Social Media: @iactwright
